More than just a hostel! We are your home away from home with budget friendly accommodation in the heart of Sydney.

Experience Sydney like a local with our magnificent location on Pitt Street. Whether you’re eager to explore iconic landmarks like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House (Circular Quay is a quick tram ride or leisurely stroll away), have lunch in Chinatown or prefer to unwind with our free daily events, Maze is your ideal base.

While we offer private rooms such as singles, doubles, twins, and triples, please keep in mind that Maze is a backpacker’s hostel. This means shared facilities such as; bathrooms, games room, TV room and our spacious kitchen, it’s all part of the experience. Complimentary WIFI is also provided for your convenience.

Please note, all guests—whether from Australia or abroad—must present a valid passport upon check-in. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this requirement, our friendly reception team is here to assist you.

How to Find Us

Train

Catch a train from either the international or domestic terminal and get off at either Central or Museum station. We are a short ten-minute walk from each. The current cost of the train ticket is approx. $20.28 and it leaves every 10-15 minutes from the airport.

Taxi

Go to the taxi bay at the airport and take a taxi to 417 Pitt Street, Haymarket. Watch out for maxi-taxis (6-7 seaters) as they charge a 50% surcharge on top of your fare. Making your trip expensive. Taxis from the airport cost anywhere between $30-50, prices may vary depending on the time of day.

Bus

Catch bus number ‘420’ if you’re travelling from the international terminal. Catch bus number ‘350’ or ‘420’ if you’re travelling from the domestic terminal. Get off at Mascot train station, then change to train and continue on to the city. Getting off at either Central or Museum station.

BY CAR / UBER / DIDI

We have a great deal with Capitol Square car park, less than two minutes from Maze. Get your ticket validated at Maze reception and receive an amazing discount of 50% when you pay at Capitol Sq. This offer is only valid on overnight stays.

Frequently asked questions

I’m under 18 can I stay at Maze?

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accommodate you if you are under 18 years old.

Where can I get internet access?

Free Wi-Fi is available for all Maze guests throughout the building.

Where is the nearest grocery store?

There is a big supermarket close by, which takes less than a minute to get to. Just turn left out the door, walk up to the lights, keep walking straight ahead into World Square Shopping Centre and you’ll find COLES located downstairs.

What time is check in & check out?

Check-in starts at 2PM. We have a free luggage room which you can use to store luggage before check in and after check out. You are more than welcome to chill in our TV room (Netflix & Stan included) while you wait for check in. Or just drop off your luggage and head out to start exploring the most beautiful city in the world. The closest beach to us is Bondi, just 30 minutes on the bus.

Check-out is any time before 10AM. We do not offer late check outs unfortunately but you are more than welcome to extend your stay if the room is available, just come to see our friendly reception staff.

What kitchen facilities do you have?

Maze has a fully equipped spacious kitchen and dining area. It is perfect for socialising whilst cooking. All amenities are provided, such as; urn (for instant hot water), toaster, cook tops, plates, mugs, cutlery, utensils etc. We ask that you please wash your dishes and avoid taking them to your room. Please purchase a zip chiller bag from Coles to store your food correctly. Labels and a pen are next to the microwave in the kitchen to attach to your bag. Please write your name, check out date, room number and colour.

Do you have laundry facilities?

Yes, we do have laundry facilities. The prices are: washing: $4 per load, drying: $4 per load. Come to grab a free laundry powder from reception. Our washing machines and dryers only accept Australian one-dollar coins. If you need change or cashback our reception desk can assist you.

I’m travelling on my own, is it easy to meet new people?

Absolutely! At Maze, we understand every traveller is unique. If you’re feeling a bit shy, simply inform our friendly reception staff. They’ll gladly direct you to our Events team, who are dedicated to ensuring you feel warmly embraced and right at ease during your stay.

Do you have Security as you are so central?

Yes, we have security in-house every night. All guests access the hostel with a key card which is issued to each guest on check in. 1 guest = 1key card. Our strict no visitor policy ensures guest safety and security.

Can I bring visitors?

Unfortunately, non-residents can’t enter. Your friends can wait at reception or book a bed with us. Subject to availability.
